Ghost CMS continues to evolve, bringing new features that improve customization, user experience, and security. In this update, we’ll explore the latest enhancements, including internationalization for multi-language support, custom fonts for better branding, upgraded comments for better engagement, and stronger spam protection to keep your membership clean.
Let’s dive into these updates and see how they can enhance your Ghost-powered site.
Internationalization
Ghost is now more accessible than ever with full multi-language support for its public-facing components. Thanks to a community-driven translation effort, Ghost now supports 60 different languages, ensuring a more localized experience for elements like the signup/login portal, search, comments, and newsletter templates.
If you’d like to enable translations immediately, you can turn on the Portal translation beta under Settings → Labs. Ghost will automatically translate components based on the Publication Language set in Settings → General.
If you have suggestions for improvement check out the guide for how to contribute translations.
Custom fonts
Ghost is adding more customizations with native support for custom fonts. A carefully curated selection of high-quality typefaces is now available, ensuring a polished look that works seamlessly across different themes.
To change your publication’s fonts, head to Settings → Design → Brand → Typography. This feature is fully supported in all our premium themes,
Upgraded comments
Ghost is rolling out an upgrade for native comments to make discussions even more interactive and engaging.
The latest improvements include nested replies, allowing users to respond directly to replies for clearer conversations. A new sorting system lets publishers prioritize the best, newest, or oldest comments, with best (most liked) as the default.
To encourage participation, a call to action now appears at the top of the comments section, prompting visitors to join the discussion. Plus, hitting like or reply will prompt readers to sign up or upgrade before commenting. Lastly, hidden or deleted comments without replies will now disappear completely, keeping discussions clean and distraction-free.
Signup spam protection
Recently, there were reports of an uptick in bulk signups from services different services, resulting in a surge of fake member accounts on their websites.
Ghost now offers a manual spam filtering option for site owners, enabling them to directly block fake registrations at the individual site level. This empowers publishers to take control and prevent fake accounts.
You can find this by heading to Settings → Advanced → Spam filters.
