Ghost CMS has rolled out several new features, including Fediverse integration, email-based two-factor authentication, more options for author social links, and better content targeting. Here's a quick look at what's changed in the latest updates.
Social web (beta)
You can now connect your publication to the Fediverse with Ghost's social web beta.
Independent blogs have often lacked the network effects of centralized platforms, making it hard for creators to connect and grow their audiences. To solve this, a new open system now lets Ghost and other publishers find, follow, and interact with each other across platforms like WordPress, Mastodon, and more.
This means posts from independent sites can now be shared and engaged with on the wider social web, giving creators more visibility and real-time feedback—without being limited by traditional social media algorithms.
Custom content for every subscriber
Ghost now lets you control exactly who sees your content and where it appears. You can target newsletters, articles, or specific subscriber groups—like free or paid members—with custom messages or sponsored content.
New design options make it easy to add images, change backgrounds, and customize sponsor labels. These flexible settings also work with HTML cards, so you can create unique experiences for every audience segment.
Device verification & email 2FA
Ghost now offers two new security features for staff logins: device verification and email-based two-factor authentication (2FA). When logging in from a new device, staff must enter a 6-digit code sent to their email, and admins can choose to require this code for every login.
For advanced needs, Ghost supports network-based authentication for the entire admin area using services like CloudFlare Access or third-party SSO providers. More details are available in the developer documentation.
New author social links
Ghost staff profiles now support a wider range of social links, including Bluesky, Threads, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Mastodon, in addition to Facebook and X (Twitter). This update makes it easier for authors to showcase their presence across multiple platforms.
To add these new social links, simply edit your profile under Settings → Staff → Social Links. The feature is available in the latest versions of all our premium themes.
